Values

At OSDI we strongly believe that the people of Pakistan regardless of age, gender, religion, class, background and ethnic origin should have access to the basic necessities of life. Our mission is to help the individuals and families stuck in the poverty trap and raise their standards of living. We endeavour to work towards restoring the integrity and dignity of the poor and help them restore their livelihoods. We hope to empower people and enable them to improve their lives by ensuring sustainable development.

Objectives

OSDI intends to bring significant change in the lives of the poor by improving their living conditions and raise their standards of living. We intend to work in 15 different villages all over the country over the next 2 years. Our objectives are:

• To implement sustainable livelihood programs for at least 80 families in the rural areas of Pakistan . These programs should create employment opportunities for atleast 500 people and help instigate economic activity in the region.

• To implement community development projects across 15 different villages across the country. These projects include providing access to clean and drinking water for the people of these villages, to provide access to schools and improve the quality of education for at least 1000 children in the rural areas. We would also provide basic health care to prevent/cure common diseases for over 30,000 rural poor as well as to help improve the basic infrastructure facilities in these areas by implementing renewable energy projects using wind, biogas and solar energy.

• To collaborate and create partnerships with local NGO's and international organizations to successfully tackle the issue of poverty and raise the standards of living in Pakistan and ensure and promote sustainable development.

• We intend to achieve our objectives through social mobilization of the communities and create social cohesion, so that people can take the responsibility of helping themselves and break free from the poverty trap.
